            Katherine’s poetry, short fiction, and non-fiction articles have appeared in:  The Portals, Modern Woodmen of America, Teen Power, Living With Teenagers, Cricket, Ranger Rick, Lubbock Parent Home and Family Magazine, Golden Gazette News, Texas Press Woman and Texas Coop Power.  Katherine is a graduate The Institute of Children's LiteratureKatherine published her first book for children, In Search of Adventure, in 2002. Her second book Albert Bear and the Big Celebration was released in November of 2005.

 

Katherine has written, written for, and edited numerous newsletters.  She served on the Board of Directors of the Friends of the Lubbock City-County Library, and on the Board of Directors of the Lupus Foundation of America, Inc., West Texas Chapter.  Katherine has been a member of Press Women of Texas (an affiliate of the National Federation of Press Women) since 1993 and has served two terms as Secretary.  Katherine is currently Vice-President of Professional Development.

 

Katherine was presented with "Golden Poet Award" in 1988 and the "Silver Poet Award" in 1989 by the World of Poetry, Sacramento, California

 

            Home to Katherine is a small farm east of Lubbock, Texas, where her retired husband raises cotton, vegetables and peaches.  She has been a probation officer, court administrator, secretary and bookkeeper, worked for the local literacy coalition and has taught a creative writing class to seniors at a retirement village.  She was honored by the City of Lubbock for her work in the literacy field.  Currently she is the Office Supervisor for the Foundation of a large hospital system where she was honored as employee of the month for November 2004.
